Students learned film and editing techniques while also learning about their neighborhood and school. We also focused on the role of an engaged press in a democracy and why journalism is absolutely necessary to communicate ideas and issues to the public at large.

The Career Center at Havermale High School is an incredible resource to it's students, offering assistance acquiring tuition for higher learning and placement testing at the local Community Colleges. Deb Crapes who runs the center is dedicated to making sure each student has access to all the opportunities that are available to them.
This video explores some of the reasons Havermale has been so successful. The population of the student body of Havermale are often mistaken for the 'bad' kids or those that are problematic. This is a fallacy. These kids are not 'bad' and are like teens in any of the other area high schools. Like their counterparts they have a strong desire to accomplish their goals and be productive members of society.
The Mission of Havermale High School is that all students achieve rigorous academic standards in a personalized environment, where progress is measured continuously and alternatives are provided as needed.
