F4C - Film 4 Change
Tincan's Film for Change project provides teens with the opportunity to create a short
fictional film that explores areas within the general topic of poverty.
Over the course of a year, participants will learn what makes a strong film, how emotion is used in film, and how camera work, lighting, music and dialogue all contribute to creating a powerful experience for the viewer.
Working with professional filmmakers as well as Tincan staff, we’ll start the project with a four-week summer workshop where teens will learn the technical skills needed to shoot film, as well as the artistic skills to develop a strong script. Over the school year, they will work with more film professionals, musicians and actors to build the film, shoot the script, and edit it, until the final film is ready for a public showing in May 2011.
Dates: The four-week workshop runs from June 28th-July 23rd.
A schedule for the rest of the school year will be discussed during the four-week camp and will be based upon the particular content of the part of the film the student(s) choose to work on.
Location: Tincan, 1317 W. 2nd Ave, Spokane, WA Time: 9am-4pm (Monday-Friday)
Stipend: $400 (to be paid to the student at the end of the four-week summer workshop.
